Columbia College Chicago creates immersive installation for deaf community
Columbia College Chicago exhibits an immersive installation tailored to the deaf community for the VDF x Ventura Projects collaboration.
Exhibitor: Columbia College Chicago
Project title: Deaf Space
Anna Kunz, Justin LeBlanc, Robert Blandford, Peter Cook and Colbey Reid – a group of creatives from Columbia College Chicago – are presenting an immersive installation as part of VDF x Ventura Projects.
Entitled Deaf Space, the design experience is designed specifically for people with hearing loss. It was developed by the group using DeafSpace guidelines that address how architectural spaces can be tailored to best suit the needs of deaf people.
Columbia College Chicago hopes it will challenge people to explore their own sensory interactions with the built environment, celebrate "diverse life experiences" and spark conversation about accessible design.
