"It's wonderful to see passion and creative energy," says Dezeen Awards 2020 judge Steve Trstenjak
As we count down the days to the Dezeen Awards 2020 deadline on 2 June, Steve Trstenjak of Woods Bagot, says that he's hoping to see an "emphasis on sustainability".
"Innovative ideas and the way they are executed always stand out when looking at a large cross section of work," said Trstenjak.
"It's wonderful to see the passion and creative energy of the designers particularly how their work reflects today's society, generating value for the people who use the space, and the broader environment."
"I would hope to see an emphasis on sustainability given our current climate and global focus, but also there could be early discussions around the changing workplace in terms of mobility and flexible alternatives," he continued.
"The recent Coronavirus pandemic has put our work and social norms into question and this will be a major focus in the coming decades."
Steve Trstenjak, principal and regional leader of design for Asia for Woods Bagot, has joined Daniel Libeskind, Martha Schwartz, Arthur Mamou-Mani and Farshid Moussavi on this year's jury.
Before joining the Australian architecture firm, Trstenjak worked at Harry Seidler and Associates and Foster + Partners as well as establishing his own practice, Blue Architects and Designers.
With 30 years of experience in the architecture industry, the architect has a particular interest in how people live and use the built environment.
