Dezeen Showroom: prowling leopards and lush foliage feature in Italian brand Fornasetti's latest range of furniture, called Leopardo.
The Leopardo range comes as part of Fornasetti's Unusual Living Room collection and has been finished with exotic details that evoke "faraway stories and echoes of travel".
It includes a sofa, wide-seat armchair, ottoman, lamp, coffee table and side table.
Most of the pieces have been printed with dense clusters of leaves that are tinged yellow as if they've been under the warmth of the sun. This foliage partially shrouds a spotted leopard that's been drawn across the cushioned backrest of the sofa.
In a playful trompe l'oeil twist, the white-iron framework of the furnishings has also been painted to resemble cane wood.
However, not every piece is decorated with nature-inspired imagery. The varnished-wood coffee table features a curving cross-shaped base, the inner lining of which has been printed to resemble a shelf lined with books.
Book spines also appear around the base of the table lamp.
The diverse themes of the Leopardo range are informed by a series of sketches drawn by Fornasetti's eponymous founder, Piero Fornasetti. These were recently discovered in a pair of notebooks in the brand's archives.
