VDF products fair is showcasing three furniture and homeware pieces by Spanish brand Expormim, which can be used inside or outside.
This includes two curved-back chairs called Blum and Petale as well as the Link rug, which is woven together from different ropes.
Although the pieces are rendered in hardwearing, weather-resistant materials to make them suitable for outdoor use, they were designed to mimic the comfort and design credentials of their indoor counterparts so that they can be easily moved between the two spaces.
Currently, Expormim's trio of "outdoor novelties" is being exhibited at Dezeen's Virtual Design Festival as part of the products fair, which gives designers and brands an affordable platform for launching new products.
The Petale chair features a backrest shaped like a flower petal so that, despite being made from stainless steel, the design effortlessly melds to the silhouette of its user.
Created for Expormim by local studio MUT Design, it uses only two materials to elicit what the brand describes as an air of "deliberate simplicity".
Also courtesy of MUT Design is the Link rug, which hopes to liven up notoriously underserved outdoor floor spaces.
The piece is entirely made up of durable polypropylene ropes, woven together into a ridged surface that offers both visual and tactile interest.
For his contribution, designer Manel Molina created a classic dining chair using exclusively outdoor materials.
Called Blum, the seat is made from CNC-bent and robot-welded aluminium to create a structure that is both sturdy and ergonomic.
Combined, Expormim hopes the three pieces will help to "rewrite the rules of outdoor furniture", which the brand says has been widely decried as ugly and uncomfortable.
