Blocks modular furniture by OMA for Lensvelt
Dezeen Showroom: Blocks is a modular furniture collection designed by OMA with Lensvelt to offer an "abstract and almost architectural quality".
Blocks, which was first launched at Milan Design Week in 2019, comprises modular chairs, benches and bar chairs that can be combined to form various seating configurations.
The independent units are made with deliberately simple forms, described by Dutch architecture studio OMA as having "practical shapes and sober finishes", which the studio designed for use in its own architecture projects.
Users can customise each module's frame, available as a solid plinth or four steel legs, and choose from several upholstery options. The chair units can also be made with backrests positioned to the left or right side.
"Blocks was designed out of sheer necessity," explained OMA. "We were looking for a type of furniture to use in our projects that had an abstract and almost architectural quality."
"The Blocks series are simple but high-quality furniture objects, with practical shapes and sober finishes."
