This Bucket Chair by Richard Hutten for Lensvelt
Dezeen Showroom: Lensvelt's This Bucket Chair is designed by Richard Hutten with a distinctive tub-like seat sculpted from plastic and available in several colours.
This Bucket Chair was first launched in 2017 with the goal of becoming an ergonomic "instant classic" that was also accessible and affordable for the general public.
It is distinguished by its curved seat and backrest, which are moulded from the same single piece of plastic to completely envelop the sitter and mounted on interchangeable bases.
The plastic body is available in eight standard colours, ranging from Vermillion Red to Golden Yellow, or with several options of upholstered covers. Users can also choose the base finish, which is made in metal or oak wood.
This Bucket Chair has been developed for longevity, meaning it can be fully disassembled to easily replace or clean parts if required. This includes the upholstered coverings, which are fastened with zips rather than permanent glue.
"Not many designers can translate the complex set of demands into an aesthetic and qualitative product that is also comfortable to sit on," said Lensvelt's founder, Hans Lensvelt, who developed the piece with Hutten.
