The latest edition of our Dezeen Weekly newsletter includes an update on the future of Notre-Dame cathedral after it was damaged in a devastating fire last year.
French president Emmanuel Macron has announced that Notre-Dame's spire will be rebuilt exactly as it was before the fire.
Macron said that a replica of Eugène Viollet-le-Duc's 93-metre-high spire, which was added to the 13th-century cathedral in 1859, will be built as part of the reconstruction.
But readers are divided. One has said "this is the correct decision," whilst another commented "erasing the memory of the fire from the great cathedral seems dishonest, and quite frankly far more traditional than I would expect from the French people."
Other stories in this week's newsletter include an undulating concrete roof in Chile, a cycling track that tops a plant-covered school in India and a high-fashion take on coronavirus.
