Dezeen promotion: Italian brand Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti (FMG) has launched five marble-look tiles that are designed for covering interior surfaces and furnishings.

The tiles form part of FMG's MaxFine range of large-format porcelain stoneware that is designed for both commercial and domestic interiors.

Among the new designs are the Aosta Green Marble, Connemarble Irish and Verde Persia tiles, which each emulate a different type of natural green marble.

The final two styles, called Calacatta Grey and Statuario Delicato, offer a more classic, white-marble finish.

"FMG, a leading producer of large high-end porcelain tiles, continues to pursue the great challenge of bringing ever-new and original material effects to the market by developing and printing the surfaces of large MaxFine tiles with the finest stones in nature," explained the company.

"The large tiles can be laid on floors, used as cladding for walls or applied as a dressing on structural elements and furnishings, creating customised and original solutions," it continued.

"A material so innovative that it breaks down the barriers between surfaces for architecture and furnishing."

The new MaxFine tiles are manufactured in Italy and available in five different sizes, with either a square or rectangular format.

They can be used alone to cover an interior surface, or mixed and matched with different tiles from FMG's collections for a more decorative finish.

The first of the green tiles, Aosta Green Marble, is distinguished by its dark green background that is overlaid with white vein-like patterns that vary in thickness.

It pays homage to the green marble from the Aosta Valley in northwest Italy and, according to FMG, is best suited to workspaces, hotels, lounges, restaurants, spa and wellness centres.

The Connemarble Irish tile takes its cues from marbles found in Ireland and is characterised by a lighter green backdrop, adorned with clouds of brown and meandering white lines.

Verde Persia, the final green marble-effect tile, is layered with veins that range from ivory hues to sandy tones, giving rise to a warmer finish.

Of the white marble-effect tiles, Statuario Delicato is the lightest. Described by FMG as "crystalline", it has a uniform white background with long, curvy, ice-coloured lines.

Calacatta Grey has a darker finish, woven with bold and luminous grey veins that are intended to offer "all the charm of a strong, authoritative style of marble".

All of the new MaxFine tiles are resistant to abrasion and chemical agents, waterproof and bacteriostatic – meaning they prevent the growth of bacteria.

Each tile has a thickness of only six millimetres, including the largest tile that measures 300 centimetres by 150 centimetres.
