Dezeen Showroom: Gioia is a plump, cloud-like pouf created by Italian designer Raffaella Mangiarotti for office furniture brand IOC Project Partners.

The ottoman is upholstered with an elastic, handwoven mesh that comes in a broad palette of colours from grey and beige to dusty pink and lime green.

"Gioia was inspired by this beautiful and elegant net material. To me, the net clearly expresses the beauty of the work of Italian fashion artisans," Mangiarotti explained.

"I thought it would be a nice material to cover an ottoman with because it stretches over the round shape of the ottoman naturally. The shape expresses ideas of softness and generosity."

Gioia's round seat is supported by thin metal feet, which contrast with its chubby seat and come in either black or white.

The ottoman comes in two sizes – small and large – allowing it to be used as a casual seat or a footrest.
