Dezeen promotion: Domus Academy has launched 10 design competitions with companies including Alessi and AKQA, which are offering scholarships to study at the Italian design school as prizes.
The Domus Academy in Milan – recently ranked by QS World University Ranking as one of the top five design schools in Italy – is awarding more than 40 scholarships for its master's degrees, starting in September 2021.
Each grant will be awarded in partnership with innovative companies such as Alessi, AKQA, 10 Corso Como, Lissoni&Partners, Technogym and Vogue Talents, and cover up to 60 per cent of tuition fees.
Among the master's programmes for which scholarships are available are Fashion Design, Business Design, Luxury Brand Management, Fashion Styling and Visual Merchandising, and Interior Design.
Scholarships for Product Design, Urban Vision and Architectural Design, Visual Brand Design, Service Design, and Interaction Design are also up for grabs.
Each competition has a unique and comprehensive "project-based" brief, developed by the school in partnership with one of the companies.
For example, the contest for the scholarship for the master's in Product Design, launched in collaboration with Alessi, invites students to develop "unique objects designed as gifts for special occasions".
To win a grant for the master's in Urban Vision and Architectural Design, Domus Academy and Lissoni & Partners are inviting prospective students to submit housing projects that address the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Meanwhile, the competition for the master's in Fashion Design scholarship, launched in collaboration with Vogue Talents, asks candidates to develop a collection that "expresses their vision of fashion", with particular emphasis on sustainability.
The deadline for all competition entries is 9 April 2021. Each one will have a dedicated jury to evaluate submissions, before results are shared with winners via email on 10 May 2021.
