Vale lighting system by Caine Heintzman for ANDlight
Dezeen Showroom: Canadian designer Caine Heintzman has designed a system of pendant lights for ANDlight that can be suspended horizontally or vertically, as a single light or in a constellation.
Each of the suspended Vale lights has a lightweight, elongated aluminium frame that can be connected either edge-to-edge or end-to-end to create different group formations.
The versatile lamp is covered in a perforated acrylic cover to diffuse light from the internal LEDs and create a dynamic form.
"Dynamism created by juxtaposing light with a wave-like contour fuelled the initial research," said Heintzman.
"Exploring scale, pitch and frequency and various materials helped settle for the most effective and interesting radiance," he continued.
"Focused specifically on the lens of the luminaire, the process development determined form and functionality as it needed to be lightweight and translucent, yet able to create volume."
Vale's frame, which incorporates the suspension system and electricals, is available in three finishes – anthracite, silica and rust. Each light contains a 20 Watt LED with a 50,000-hour lifetime.
