Tessellating shapes create geometric patterns in Studio Moods flooring

Dezeen promotion: Belgian flooring brand IVC Commercial has expanded its Studio Moods range of vinyl tiles, offering nine geometric shapes that can be combined to create countless patterns.

The collection is designed to be as versatile as possible, to create designs that can suit a wide variety of different settings.

The nine different tiles in the range are: Triangle, Chevron, Diamond, Big Diamond, Trapezoid, Hexagon, Big Hexagon, Small Plank and Parallelogram.

Each of these shapes is available in more than 150 different floor finishes from IVC Commercial's range. This includes a variety of colours, along with textures such as oak, terrazzo, slate or concrete.

"Through pre-defined geometric shapes and multiple wood, stone and colours that can be arranged in countless patterns, Studio Moods makes bespoke design simple, bringing creativity and freedom to the floor," said IVC Commercial marketing director Cindy Van Moorleghem.

The brand has developed over 100 pre-determined pattern layouts, so that customers can get a feel for the multiple different options that are possible.

Some shapes can be used to create various effects. For instance, Diamond tessellates as either pointed formations or 3D-effect cubes, while the rectangular-shaped Small Plank can produce herringbone patterns as well as grid formations.

There are also patterns that combine multiple shapes, such as the hexagonal Pepper or the basketweave-style Wicker.

By mixing different colours and textures, it's possible to add complexity to the designs. This can serve multiple purposes, whether that's providing signage, zoning different areas or simply making a statement.

"Studio Moods is as individual as you want it to be," said Van Moorleghem. "Whether mixing up material effects or simply executed tonal patterns, Studio Moods lets you play it your way."

IVC Commercial manufactures Studio Moods in Belgium, at a facility designed with sustainability in mind. A wind farm means that renewable energy is used to fuel the production, while the tiles are made from 50 per cent recycled material.

Durable and easy to clean, Studio Moods can be specified for workplace, retail, hospitality, leisure and housing environments.

The tiles have a matt finish to give them a natural look. Some designs can also integrate EIR (emboss in register), to enhance this effect further.
