Equitone ANZ launches archiTALK podcast

Dezeen promotion: facade manufacturer Equitone has launched its archiTALK podcast, a conversation with some of Australia's most influential architects on subjects including social and sustainable architecture.

The podcast, which is presented by architect and journalist Sonia Audoly, aims to "encourage conversation and create awareness of themes and trends in design and construction."

Among the architects taking part are names from some of Australia's best known firms, including John Wardle Architects and Bates Smart.

On the Equitone Australia archiTALK podcast, recorded via Zoom, they will share their passion and vision for how to create the living spaces of the future.

Maya Borjesson, architect at John Wardle Architects and Diversity Coordinator for Women in Design and Construction, will speak about how her work is inspired by equality and diversity and the impact the second female winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, Kazuyo Sejima of SANAA, has on her designs.

Two of the studios look back at their work over the past couple of decades. Annabel Lahz and Andrew Nimmo from Lahznimmo are joining the podcast to discuss the hurdles they overcame to make their studio, founded 20 years ago, a multi-award winning practice.

Liza Ringdahl, Hayball

The team at CHROFI will also talk about their work over the past two decades, focusing on how strong design skills can create richer spaces that fit with the existing natural environment.

Peddle Thorp's Socrati Seretis will come on archiTALK to expand on what it means to be a multi-discipline designer and examine how out-of-the-box thinking can inspire new methods of design.

Designing for the community will be the focus of two of the talks, with India Mitchell from K20 Architecture set to talk about how her work aims to create sustainable social spaces that can engage the wider community.

Simon Trude from Endrim will discuss how delivering a unique experience of value to the community can activate a space and offer wellness and flexibility over time.

Social sustainability is also at the core of Liza Ringdahl's work at Hayball, which focuses on creating a sustainable built environment.

On the podcast, the architect will talk about how a holistic approach to social sustainability can maximise the efficient and healthy use of buildings.

Karen Wong from Bates Smart and NBRS Architecture's Carmit Harnik Saar will both come on archiTALK to discuss architecture and the future.

Wong will talk about city shaping and how master planning can help develop innovative, healthy future cities.

The architect will also delve into site specifics and innovation to reveal how practical and visionary strategies can be combined to achieve "outstanding" results.

Harnik Saar, meanwhile, will examine how technology has made ideas that would have seemed like science-fiction 40 years ago possible today, and discuss how it can help develop innovative design and materials for a sustainable future.

The archiTALK podcast is available now to stream on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. The episodes can also be accessed through the Equitone website.
