Altet chair by Expormim
Dezeen Showroom: Spanish brand Expormim has relaunched its Altet dining chair, a 1968 classic made of thick rattan and now optionally upholstered.
A piece from Expormim's original catalogue, Altet has been reimagined by the brand's in-house team with a fully padded seat and backrest, making it more comfortable to sit in for longer periods.
Alternatively, the design is once again available in its original form, made entirely of rattan and with a removable cushion, or with a rattan backrest and upholstered seat.
Altet has also been given an environmental upgrade. It is now manufactured more efficiently and the short sections of rattan are offcuts from the production of other collections.
The chair comes in 14 different colours ranging from earthy tones to cherry red and navy blue, all rendered in water-based, low-VOC paint.
"Without giving up on its roots or losing a tiny bit of its character, this updated version of Altet keeps showing how to successfully survive the passage of time," said Expormim.
