Dezeen promotion: flooring brand IVC Commercial has chosen The Gallery Clerkenwell, at the heart of London's design industry, for its London home where it will showcase its multi-category flooring solutions.

The collaborative space on Great Sutton Street was created to let designers explore "the creativity of flooring," said Cindy Van Moorleghem, the brand's marketing director.

It aims to help them formulate even vague ideas about what colour and form they are contemplating, and turn those ideas into functional floor layouts with design that stands out.

From its home base in Belgium, IVC Commercial designs flooring innovations such as its award-winning LayRed 55, an acoustic engineered vinyl flooring.

The company's London space showcases its wide selection of products – from carpet tiles to luxury vinyl tile (LVT) and sheet vinyl floors.

All IVC Commercial's products are made in-house and in Europe, which the company believes gives it a unique advantage.

"It’s an approach to efficient manufacturing, control and quality that can bring real benefits in designing a floor scheme that’s out of the ordinary yet simple to implement," Van Moorleghem said.

By opening a space where designers can see the products in situ, IVC Commercial wants to let visitors explore how different flooring combinations, such as its geometrically-shaped Studio Moods collection, perform in real life.

"There's nothing to match seeing the powerful tessellations of Studio Moods framing areas or the feel of carpet tiles in meeting booths to spark the start of a flooring scheme that’s both interesting and appropriate for the task," said Van Moorleghem.

At The Gallery Clerkenwell, it presents innovative solutions such as using acoustic vinyl floors to create comfortable experiences in productivity areas, while in breakout areas, carpet tiles can be used for a more home-like, relaxing feel.

Visitors to The Gallery Clerkenwell space also have the opportunity to chat to IVC Commercial consultants who can help them explore different flooring aspects, from pile heights to wear layers, and find the right designs for their clients.
