Dezeen promotion:Â Budapest exhibition Design Without Borders is launching an online video series to present the work of artists and designers from the region and beyond, in lieu of an in-person event for 2021.
The vlog, which debuts 7 May 2021 alongside a virtual event, will showcase projects by 154 creatives from 14 countries in the form of short 30 second videos.
This digital showcase follows the most recent physical edition of Design Without Borders, which took place at Budapest's Kiscelli Museum in October 2020.
The exhibition was due to travel to Vienna and Bratislava this year, but had to be cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Instead, a meeting at the FUGA Budapest Center of Architecture will be streamed online. This will feature Szilvia Szigeti's textile collection Futuristic, Rita Góbi's dance étude and a contemporary classical music concert.
Design Without Borders typically exhibits work from all types of creative disciplines: from furniture and homeware, to film and performances.
A recurring contemporary jewellery section and a special Texhibition focused on Hungarian and international textile design, also form part of the annual event.
Design Without Borders was founded by textile designer Szilvia Szigeti and interior designer Tamás Radnóti, who are both from Budapest and graduated from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design.
The duo opened the city's Eventuell Gallery in 1994, and have since organised and curated the annual Design Without Borders exhibition to promote talent from across Central and Eastern Europe.
