Dezeen Showroom: designed by Hayche founder and creative director Alejandro Villarreal, the Otto chair combines the warmth of formed plywood with a minimal metal frame.
Hayche describes Otto as "playful and sophisticated", with a metal connector on the armrest that makes for a unique aesthetic detail.
"The Otto armchair was conceived as a light and stackable chair that blends the warmth and soft curvature of the plywood with a simple, rational and clean metal frame," said Villarreal.
"The main detail of the chair is the connection point between both components. After more than seven iterations, we came up with a subtle yet structurally strong solution."
Otto's steel frame is powder-coated using low-VOC paint in white or black, while and the backrest and seat are finished in either an FSC-certified oak or walnut veneer.
The product was designed with a cradle-to-cradle philosophy in mind, so it is easy to disassemble for repairs or recycling.
