“I am curious to see how participants will rethink living environments and interiors” says Dezeen Awards judge Piet Boon
With less than two weeks to go until Dezeen Awards entries close, Dutch designer Piet Boon tells us what he's hoping to see when he judges the interiors categories.
"In these times spaces in and around the home are used more intensively and are given new functions," said Boon.
"We have also become more aware of life outside and increasingly want to be part of it," he continued. "The nature around us has never been more present in our lives, and our awareness of sustainability is woven into our decisions as designers."
When asked about the impact of Covid-19 on this year's entries, Boon commented: "We have felt a sense of our own place strongly over the past year, which will undoubtedly affect the interior designs submitted."
Boon is part of Dezeen Awards' judging panel and will be assessing interiors project entries alongside Hector Esrawe, Petra Blaisse, Teo Yang and Julie Eizenberg.
Now in its fourth year, the awards programme celebrates the world's best architecture, interiors and design as well as individuals and studios producing the most outstanding work.
"Dezeen is unarguably the biggest design platform in the world," said Boon.
"Getting to win a Dezeen Award adds credibility, brings international exposure and will help the designer or design team to land new business," he added.
"This recognition can help to encourage clients to take on projects from all over the world. This trusted platform is recognised worldwide, winning a Dezeen Award will boost their confidence to go even further."
