Otti modular outdoor seating by Vincent Van Duysen for Sutherland Furniture
Dezeen Showroom: Belgian architect Vincent Van Duysen has created a highly customisable collection of modular outdoor seating for US brand Sutherland Furniture.
The Otti collection comprises sectional and three-seater sofas, chaise longues and armchairs, all with slender, powder-coated aluminium frames.
The frames are wrapped with cords of woven acrylic rope as a nod to the collection's namesake, Bauhaus textile artist and weaver Otti Berger.
"The rope adds modernity and warmth to the aluminium structure, creating a beautiful contrast between the natural form of the rope and the perfectly detailed and precise aluminium structure," said Van Duysen.
Originally launched in 2019, the range has been updated to include additional modular components to enable users to arrange the seating into various configurations.
"The inspiration for the collection comes from the typical white metal-cast ornamental chairs that you find on elegant terraces, parks and classic French gardens from the French Riviera," explained Van Duysen.
"The result is a very elegant but timeless collection."
The seating is available in a palette of neutral tones ranging from noir black to bone white.
The Otti collection also includes a series of outdoor coffee tables, side tables and dining tables with tops made of lava stone sourced from Mount Vesuvius.
