Dezeen Showroom: Chaddar, designed by Charlotte Lancelot for rug manufacturer Gan, is a rug characterised by its neutral tones and thick needlepoint design.
The name Chaddar references traditional Indian sheets, which Gan says are known for "their beautiful designs and incredible durability".
Lancelot's needlework aims to reintroduce embroidery to contemporary rugmaking.
"Following Silaï, launched in 2017, this new collection of indoor rugs employs the same technique – petit point – bringing traditional embroidery work to contemporary rugs," explained Gan.
"Chaddar is like that lovely jumper that we put on when we just want to stay home and relax, the one we never take off," Lancelot added.
Chaddar is available in various sizes and four natural colours – white, grey, camel or charcoal.
"Its intentional monochromatic look highlights the irreplaceable value of handwork and the perpetual reinvention of the ancient art of embroidery," said Gan.
"Each stitch creates certain shades of colour."
