Dezeen Showroom: Italian textile manufacturer Dedar has launched a range of fabrics called The Art of Jacquard, which is distinguished by its vivid colours and graphic motifs.
The Art of Jacquard collection comprises a series of rich, paradisiacal patterns realised with the help of ultra-thin yarns that are woven directly into the material, as opposed to being embroidered, printed or stamped onto the fabric.
Among the textiles in the collection is This Must Be The Place, which features tropical birds and botanical motifs alongside abstract architectural forms created by French illustrator duo Icinori.
The design is created by interlacing 160 threads per centimetre using four wefts, one of which has a metallic effect.
Another design, called Dalie Papaveri Tulipani, features an abstract floral landscape, which resembles the reverse side of jacquard fabric.
Suitable for use on both curtains and seating, Dedar's Be Bop A Lula fabric evokes warm summer nights on a Pacific island, with its repeating pattern of palm trees in an array of playful colours.
Another highlight, the Intarsiato jacquard weave, is composed of alternating matt and metallic yarns that come together to create a three-dimensional zig-zag pattern, designed to resemble inlays of ebony and mother-of-pearl.
