Day one of Velux's Build for Life conference features Chris Precht talk and COP26 panel discussion

A talk by Chris Precht, a panel discussion about the outcomes of COP26, and a talk about the importance of natural light are some of the highlights on the first day of Velux's Build for Life digital conference.

Running from 15 to 17 November, Build for Life sees over 90 experts from around the world discuss climate-related challenges and solutions in the built environment.

The online programme will be delivered from two main stages in Copenhagen: the Compass stage and the Daylight Symposium stage.

Dezeen is also hosting a series of talks throughout the conference from London, which will be moderated by Dezeen founder and editor-in-chief Marcus Fairs and live-streamed on Dezeen.

How can we enable the learnings from COP26 to reinvent cities?

Broadcast live on Dezeen, this panel discussion see Fairs in conversation with Cécile Brisac, founder of Brisac Gonzalez, Christopher Trott, head of sustainability at Foster + Partners, and Cassie Sutherland, programme director at C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group.

The discussion will focus on COP26 in Glasgow, which finished on 12 November. It will examine the outcomes of COP26 and what the built environment can take from it in order to reinvent cities.


What is the impact of air quality in buildings?

Queensland University of Technology professor Lidia Morawska will discuss the importance of optimal indoor air climates in buildings.

The talk will also focus on how aerosol transmission awareness has increased during the Covid-19 pandemic and examples of healthy indoor air climate solutions for homes, workplaces and schools.


Why does good design matter for sustainability and longevity?

Juri Troy, founder of Juri Troy Architects, will discuss how Austria-based building Sunlighthouse became a "lighthouse for sustainability" through its wooden construction, approach to daylight and good design principles.

Eindhoven University of Technology professor Yvonne de Kort will present a talk focusing on light and health.

Studio Precht founder Chris Precht (pictured) will present a talk titled Wanderlust focused on natural light in the built environment.

The session will also see Louise Becker, global design principal at Henning Larsen, will present a discussion titled Build for Light/Build for Life.
