Dezeen Showroom: Italian textile manufacturer Dedar has released an expansive collection of velvet fabrics, which come in an array of lavish and lustrous colours.
Called Velvets, the collection comprises ultra-soft fabrics made from a wide range of yarns, including wool, silk, cotton, mohair and linen.
All fabrics within the Velvets range come in an extensive colour palette, ranging from rich and vibrant hues to fabrics with bold prints, graphic motifs and geometric patterns.
The application of the fabrics is wide-ranging: they can be used to upholster furniture as well as for curtains, draping and decorative purposes.
Included in the range is Splendido, a bulky but soft velvet composed of silk and viscose. The velvet, which has a four-millimeter pile, is elastic and resistant to wear, which makes it suitable for intensive uses such as sofa upholstery.
Another design included in the collection is Vladimiro, an ultra-soft velvet made from kid mohair sourced from the Angora goat's first shear. The velvet is fire-retardant and naturally durable.
Also among the fabrics included in the range is Elektra, a luminous long-pile velvet ideal for curtains and seating, which is both washable and hardwearing.
The Romeo & Giulietta fabric is a precious silk velvet, which has a soft-to-touch feel and is defined by its silky sheen.
