London studio Industrial Facility has designed a compact height-adjustable desk with the aim of enabling a "new method" of team-working.
The OE1 Micro Pack was created for US office furniture company Herman Miller but is also intended to be suitable for homeworking.
With its small work surface, big enough for a laptop, notebook and monitor, the Micro Pack is designed for a few minutes of focused seated or standing work away from the normal desk.
The product comes either as a small single desk that must be secured to a wall or as a free-standing three or four-surface setup.
These latter configurations are intended to allow people to work alongside each other in small areas, providing what Industrial Facility describes as a "new method for team working".
The Micro Pack desks have been engineered to require only one electrical socket with all work surfaces linked to a single driver, to help make them easy to move around.
They are built with a new type of motion column developed especially for sit-to-stand desks, which hides cables and ensures quiet motor movement.
"OE1 Micro Packs introduce a new typology to working comfortably at home or in an office environment," the studio said.
The Micro Pack is produced in range of different colours with the whole assembly matching including the column, while privacy screens can be attached to the work surface.
It forms part of the Industrial Facility's OE1 project, which seeks to revisit the purpose of the office in the wake of Covid-19.
Both the OE1 Micro Pack and Industrial Facility's OE1 Nook, a desk for focused solo working in open-plan offices, are shortlisted in the Dezeen Awards 2021 workplace design category.
