Dezeen Showroom: Berlin-based brand Loehr has released Jazz, a playful take on the dining chair with a jaunty silhouette and bright colour palette.
Designed by David and Julian Loehr, two of the brand's three founding brothers, the Jazz dining chair has a protruding front leg that breaks with the expected order of right angles.
The chair comes in two versions, one with and one without an armrest.
While the standard model has two angled front legs, the other features an extended backrest to connect the armrests and one leg pointing forward at a greater angle.
"The model with armrest takes the striking accent to the extreme, even in a figurative sense," said the brand. "With the frame rotated by 45 degrees, one of the four chair legs points straight forward."
The Jazz chair is made from solid European beech or oak with a moulded plywood backrest for comfort and elbow room.
The design is available with an optional cushion seat and can be finished in a clear varnish or 12 bright lacquers, with colours including orange, mint green and lavender.
The wood is sourced responsibly from European forests and handcrafted in partnership with a cabinetmaker in the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
