Shaw Contract announces the winners of its 2021 Design Awards
In this captioned video produced by Dezeen for Shaw Contract, the winners of the flooring brand's 2021 Design Awards are revealed, including a music school in Chile and a live-work office space in Tokyo.
US flooring company Shaw Contract recognised five winners and a People's Choice award in the 16th edition of its Design Awards, which celebrates impactful living, working, learning and healing spaces around the world.
Each of the winners were awarded a $5,000 charitable donation in the name of their studio to an organisation of their choice.
"Our annual Design Awards program recognises the creative vision of architects and designers who inspire new ways of living, working, learning and healing," said Shaw Contract.
"The awards place a spotlight on a diverse range of talents from across the globe, celebrating design in action and purposefully rewarding the innovative and truly inspiring work being done by the architecture and design community."
The five winners were chosen from 46 finalists, narrowed down from 700 shortlisted projects from 37 countries by a panel of design professionals.
Architecture firm Woods Bagot won an award for its design of the ABN Group's headquarters in Perth.
Two further office design projects were recognised by Shaw Contract. The global headquarters of Leidos in Virginia, US, designed by architecture firm Gensler, and the offices of asset management company Sumitomo Mitsui DS in Tokyo, designed by Signal Inc, both received awards.
A music school in Santiago, Chile, designed by EGBARQ and The Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay hotel in Singapore by FDAT Architects also won awards.
Alongside the category winners, a People's Choice award chosen by the public was also given to the Tokyo offices of workplace furniture supplier Kokuyo Co. The 40-year old company building has been renovated into a live-work office space for its workers.
