Dezeen promotion: the IE School of Architecture and Design has launched an award scheme calling for design and architecture graduates to submit their final degree projects for a chance to win a scholarship towards a master's degree.
The initiative called the Outstanding Architecture and Design Final Degree Project Awards opened on 1 December 2021 and calls for individuals who have achieved a bachelor's or master's degree in architecture, design, interior design, or other related fields to enter one project completed during their last year of study.
Four winning participants will be awarded a scholarship towards their tuition fees for the next intake of IE's Master in Business for Architecture and Design or the Master in Strategic Interior Design.
The school launched the awards with the intent to "highly compensate" graduates for the vast amount of time and effort spent on their final degree projects.
Candidates can register for free online and must create a summary of one project or their final degree project that encompasses the most important elements of the work.
There will be one first-place prize granting the winner admission to either the IE Master in Business for Architecture and Design or the Master in Strategic Interior Design 2022-2023 academic year and a €12,000 scholarship towards the programme's tuition fees.
There will also be three second-place prizes that give successful candidates admission to one of the two master's programmes for the 2022-2023 academic year, with €8,000 scholarships towards the tuition fees.
Projects will be judged by a panel of experienced designers and entrepreneurs, including Sean Chiao, global business line chief executive of buildings and places at AECOM, and Susan Carruth, partner and head of operations for GXN Innovation.
The jury will judge the architectural quality of the projects, as well as each entrant's ability to clearly convey the fundamental concept of the project and the quality of the overall presentation.
The chosen finalists will be interviewed by the IE admissions department, which will determine whether a candidate fits the requirements of the programme and can be granted a prize.
Entrants have until 1 February 2022 to submit their projects, before jury deliberations begin the following day. The panel will announce the winners on 14 February 2022.
More about the competition and its submission requirements can be found on arquideas' website.
