Promotion: Philippe Starck will be among a panel of experts discussing the concept of conscious luxury at the second edition of Axor Futures, a digital platform for talks and events organised by the German bathroom and kitchen manufacturer Axor.
The second edition will take place across two sessions, which will cover similar topics. The first at 9 am BST and the second at 3 pm BST on 20 April 2022 will bring together a panel of experts from various fields to exchange ideas around conscious consumption and longevity in design.
"Resources here on earth are finite, unlike the multitude of our ideas, desires and aspirations," said head of Global Brand Marketing Axor, Anke Sohn, who will chair the event.
"This also means that our attitude towards design is changing," Sohn continued. "We want it to be meaningful and long-lasting. Our primary goal is to combine our outstanding designs with excellence in manufacturing and innovative technology to create products that last a lifetime."
"Promoting conscious consumption and long-lasting design is our contribution to a more sustainable world. And in this spirit, we have always designed beyond time and are entering into a new dialogue with creative minds from around the world."
Sohn will be joined by Philippe Starck, who has collaborated with the German brand for over 20 years, London-based futurist, Anne Lise Kjaer; partner at Antonio Citterio, Chung-Yi Yang; and lead at Hansgrohe's Green Company Initiative, Rebecca Weigold.
The inaugural Axor Futures event took place in November 2021 and explored the topic of 'Precious Space'.
During the talk, panelists – including co-founder of The Future Laboratory, Jay Osgerby; co-founder at Barber Osgerby and entrepreneur Cédric Waldburger – discussed the future of compact urban living against a backdrop of climate change and population growth.
The event's third edition is scheduled to take place on 8 November 2022, and will tackle the theme of 'Luxury Gets Personal'.
"With AXOR Futures, we offer exclusive insights into new ways of thinking about societal influences on interior design," said Sohn.
"The first edition on the topic of 'Precious Space' was very well received by the global architecture and design community. This is another reason why we are very much looking forward to 'The Long View' on 20 April."
Known for designing clean-lined and timeless products, in the past year Axor has unveiled a bathroom tap collection by French designer Jean-Marie Massaud, a range of minimalist overhead showers by Stuttgart-based studio Phoenix Design, and a collection of bathroom showers, taps and accessories designed by Barber Osgerby.
Attendees should register by 15 April on Axor's website.
