Promotion: Italian tile brand Ceramiche Refin has launched Prestigio Travertino, a porcelain tile collection that was designed in reference to "monumental architecture, majestic squares and extraordinary works of art".
The collection, which comes in three colours and two finishes, was designed to have a muted elegance and is the result of Ceramiche Refin's research into different materials.
"The collection results from our commitment to research, in which our expertise in analysing and selecting materials is enhanced by our ability to reinterpret them with a new style and refined sensitivity," said the brand.
For Prestigio Travertino, it looked at classic vein-cut travertine, which is when the block of stone is cut parallel to the natural plane of the veins.
Ceramiche Refin designed the tile collection to "sum up the graphic realism of the stone," while also giving it a modern feel.
The detailed designs feature natural-looking tonal variations, as well as chiaroscuro effects that aim to add movement to the surface.
The brand referenced historic architecture and artworks made from travertine when creating Prestigio Travertino, which can be used on both floors and walls.
The shockproof and wear-resistant tiles are well-suited for bathrooms with a modern architectural design, where they can create a striking, almost monolithic look.
"We took inspiration from art and nature, we updated a centuries-old material and encapsulated an excellent performance in its modern beauty," the brand said of the design.
Prestigio Travertino comes in grey, white and beige hues and in the glossy Lucido finish as well as Soft, which has a velvety non-reflective finish.
The material's potential is further explored through two mosaics – T. Mix, which is comprised of triangles and can be used to create a herringbone pattern, as well as Cube, a collection of rhomboidal modules composed of hexagons that create an optical effect that resembles a three-dimensional cube.
According to Ceramiche Refin, Prestigio Travertino is 100 per cent recyclable. Its design was also carefully created to give travertine a modern update.
"Our tile designers masterly updated the original material by making specific choices to soften its contrasts, while keeping all its poignant beauty unaltered," the brand explained.
