Promotion: global smart device brand OPPO has introduced ColorOS 13, an operating system designed to have a water-like fluidity.
Based on the newly released Android 13, OPPO's ColorOS 13 has been designed to offer a concise visual experience and an intuitive user interface.
It includes a range of new features for enhancing user productivity and "intelligent experiences" that use behavioural prediction.
OPPO refers to the system as having an "aquamorphic design" that is informed by the way water acts in nature.
"This concept takes inspiration from the multifariousness, compactability, and openness to interactions in the unlimited physical possibilities of water molecules – from its ubiquitous vapourous form to its sharp, tough ice-like rigidity," explained OPPO.
"Water is seen as a symbol of hope and vitality in every culture, which reveals how OPPO envisions their technology – peaceful, vibrant, all-pervading, but silently impacting our life," said the brand.
OPPO's aquamorphic design aims to enable users to quickly get hold of desired information with the least amount of effort.
According to OPPO, this also mirrors the appearance of water in nature, "being important, yet appearing weightless".
The system's card-styled layout is also designed for a systematic and convenient user experience.
The design intends to simplify the interface presentation by classifying scattered information, re-arranging it in an easy-to-read layout, and enlarging the most important information.
It also includes a new series of "always on display" animations called Homeland.
Activated while the phone is asleep, the animations show scenes of wild animals in nature and the changes to their habitats. Based on daily temperature changes, the feature encourages users to pay attention to climate change.
According to OPPO, the operational system also includes an upgraded Quantum Animation Engine with improved animative details.
The upgrade intends to make animations appear more lifelike and connected to the natural world. It also aims to reduce the sense of detachment between reality and the digital world.
ColorOS 13's smart Always-On Display can also display information related to music and food delivery apps, giving users quicker access to information and more convenient control over music playback and other functions.
The Always-On Display is also designed to prioritise important information with "minimal diversions on time-consuming and redundant information".
Other features include an improved multi-device user experience that allows users to seamlessly connect to other smart devices and the Meeting Assistant for smartphones designed specifically for online meetings.
The operation system also features a new theme palette that is designed to mimic the changing colour of light between sunrise and sunset at sea level, and a new concise and streamlined system font that improves the readability of system text in any language.
