Promotion: architects, designers and final-year architectural students are invited to submit their work to the Tile of Spain Awards 2022, which celebrate architectural and design projects that use Spanish ceramics.
The annual competition aims to highlight outstanding projects while promoting Spanish-made ceramics used in international architecture and design.
The awards are divided into three categories: architecture, interior design and a final degree project by an architecture student.
Previous winning projects included a gastro bar designed by Arantxa Manrique Arquitectes and a centre for unaccompanied, underage immigrants by Andrea Puebla Yubero.
The panel of judges for the Tile of Spain Awards is made up of international architectural and design professionals and will be chaired by architect Eric Parry of Eric Parry Architects.
Cash prizes total 35,000 euros. The architecture and interior design category winners will each receive 15,000 euros, while the student winner will gain 5,000 euros.
First prize for the architecture category last year went to MRM Architects' Studio for the new headquarters of the Valencia Construction Sector Employment Foundation (FLCCV).
First prize in the interior design category was claimed by Estudio Vilablanch for Living in A Coderch, which is a residential restoration project in Barcelona, Spain.
The student project award was given to designer Gonzalo López Elorriaga of the Madrid School of Architecture. Elorriaga's proposal was for an entertainment and leisure resort designed to revive a rural setting.
Entry to the awards is free and submissions are accepted from now until 28 October 2022. Projects must have been completed between January 2021 and October 2022.
Winners will be announced at the Cevisama Fair in Valencia, which is held from 27 Feb to 3 March 2023.
The event is organised by the Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers' Association (ASCER) and is now in its 21st year. Sponsors for 2022 are Endesa, PortValencia and PwC España.
