X lounge chair by Hvidt & Mølgaard for &Tradition
Dezeen Showroom: furniture brand &Tradition has relaunched Hvidt & Mølgaard's sculptural X lounge chair, named in reference to the shape of its frame when observed from the side.
The X chair was originally released in 1959 and its design is informed by old wooden tennis rackets.
"Elegant and unusual, X instantly stood out to us as we were flicking through old archives," said &Tradition. "A real archetypal example of their visionary approach to design, we knew instantly that we wanted to bring it back into the spotlight."
Its oiled oak frame features a walnut insert at the junction where the legs, backrest and seat meet to highlight its X-shaped silhouette.
"Its streamlined form and utilisation of quality materials reflect the traditional values of Danish design," said &Tradition.
The chair has a woven natural rattan seat and is suitable for indoor settings across a variety of sectors.
