Dezeen Showroom: Italian studio E-ggs has designed the Bice chair for Miniforms, combining a simple wooden structure with a characterful extended backrest.

Miniforms describes the Bice chair as having an "eccentric flap-ears backrest" that both balances the chair's proportions and gives it a distinctive appearance.

"We like to call it 'the chair that's all ears', which in Italian is tutt'orecchi: someone who's carefully ready to listen," said Miniforms.

The brand considers the chair emblematic of the Italian design ethos, where aesthetic integrity is obtained through careful craftsmanship.

Bice is intended to be warm and domestic enough to work in a bedroom while also being suitable for contract environments such as hotels and bars, where its stackable design comes in handy.

The piece is made of ash wood and available in a choice of four finishes: natural ash, oak, walnut and black.
