A selection of furniture pieces from Plank feature on Dezeen Showroom

Dezeen Showroom: Italian furniture manufacturer Plank has presented a range of tables and seating on Dezeen Showroom, which have been created by various designers, including a chair that mimics drawings made with a pen.

Swedish designer Björn Dahlström created the Velit chair for Plank, drawing on his background in graphic design to create a striking yet ergonomically sound seat.

The Velit chair is made of tubular steel

The chair is characterised by its seat and backrest, which are made up of a row of fine metal rods bent to comfortably seat the user in a laid-back position, encircled by a thicker frame and legs.

Velit is suitable for use in both indoor and outdoor settings and comes in a selection of powder-coated colours.

The Bench is constructed using an invisible pin mechanism

German designer Konstantin Grcic's Bench collection for Plank features a hidden joinery system that allows the top and legs to be assembled without the use of tools.

Both the bench seats and tables are made from spruce timber and contain an invisible slotting system, allowing them to be moved and stored with ease.

Miura is stackable and comes in bright colours

Similarly portable and storable, Grcic's stackable Miura stool is made from reinforced polypropylene and comes in seven colours.

The stool was originally designed in 2005 and can be found in permanent museum collections worldwide, which represents the company's transition from a timber chair manufacturer to an international design company.

The tables have a minimal composition

The TO side tabe was created by Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa to compliment Plank's existing LAND lounge chair.

TO is made from three simple components: a circular top and base, and a T-shaped column, which is cut from uniform 4-millimetre steel sheets.

Myto chairs have a cantilevered structure

Another by Grcic, the Myto chair is characterised by its perforated seat, cantilevered design and plastic materiality.

The chair was originally released in 2007 and has been reissued in newly developed material that is lighter as well as being more flexible – a calling card for cantilevered chairs.

Myto chairs come in a selection of colourways

Plank is an Italian design furniture manufacturer established in 1953.

The brand collaborates with leading designers to create tables and seating for private, public and contract spaces worldwide, with many of its pieces held in international museums.
