Dezeen Showroom: UK brand Karndean Designflooring has introduced a new flooring collection called the Opus abstract capsule collection, which is intended to give designers the creative freedom to choose bold flooring designs.
Karndean Designflooring says it intends to "push the boundaries of design" with the abstract capsule collection, which adds to the existing wood planks and stone tiles available in the Opus range.
There are 24 new designs in the collection, which all reference aspects of the Italian Renaissance – such as Adriatic Terrazzo – which uses larger chips and interesting colour combinations than typical terrazzo.
There is also Venetian Stucco, which emulates the weathered effect of worn stucco that can be found inside villas and cathedrals, and Natural Pigments, which introduces muted, tertiary tones to the range and adds subtle texture from fine cloth strands.
Suitable for both residential and commercial settings, the new designs can be combined with other styles in the Opus range to create unique looks.
"The collection offers ample opportunities to create visual movement with areas of pattern in perfect symmetry or offset designs for a disjointed uniformity that takes the concept of abstract flooring to a whole new level," said Karndean Designflooring.
