Dezeen Showroom: Jorge Pensi Design Studio aimed to bring character and softness to the traditional office chair with Polar, created for Italian brand Pedrali.

The Polar task chair features organic shapes that are designed to adapt to the body and a simple-to-use adjustment mechanism that creates ergonomic comfort.

The chair's aesthetics are enhanced by its customisable lumbar support design, which can be ordered in a range of colours, and its die-cast aluminium swivel base that Pedrali says "stands out for its clean, elegant lines".

Polar features a weight-activated synchro-tilt mechanism, so the seat and backrest recline in harmony to give the optimum support as a person leans back, with the degree of tilting regulating automatically according to their body weight.

It is available with or without armrests and comes in black- or white powder-coated aluminium with a black mesh back and seat upholstery in a choice of colours.

The lumbar support element can be ordered in black or white, or covered the same fabric as the seat.
