Architecture studio BIG has revealed its Vancouver House skyscraper in Canada. Completed in 2020, the building's "distinctive form" was informed by the Flatiron building in New York.
The 52-storey skyscraper has a triangular plan that develops into a rectangular shape on its upper levels. According to the studio, the building's unique shape was designed to ensure it doesn't overshadow a neighbouring park and the bridge at its base.
Readers had conflicting opinions about the project with one saying the skyscraper "feels unnatural", whilst another thought it is a "very unique solution".
Other stories in this week's newsletter include Brace New Eco's interior design for a Melbourne residence, Denizen Work's Hundred Acre Woodhouse in Scotland and an interview with Amnesty International's Peter Frankental about sportswashing.
