IE School of Architecture and Design's Diploma in Strategic Interior Design offers consulting sessions with 12 design experts
Promotion: IE School of Architecture and Design's Diploma in Strategic Interior Design includes consulting sessions by the university's Strategic Committee of Consultants – a group of experts who guide students throughout the course.
IE School of Architecture and Design's six-month part-time diploma focuses on enhancing student's knowledge of interior design.
The course includes sessions taught by members of a committee, which is made up of 12 leading experts with experience across a range of sectors, including healthcare, retail, learning environments, workplaces and hospitality.
Amongst the masterclasses special guests include the founder and creative director at Rosan Bosch Studio, Rosan Bosch and executive vice president and CEO at IIDA, Cheryl Durst.
The university's expert consultants include trend scout for Vitra, Raphael Gielgen; specialist in the future of work, Diego Gronda; former creative director of Rockwell, Studio Gronda; and retail designer and co-founder of Ciszak Dalmas Design Studio, Andrea Caruso.
Other consultants include director at Castiel Consultants, Jon Blasby; architect and founder of MB studio, Marlies Boterman; EMEA lead at Total Workplace at Cushman and Wakefield, Nicola Gillen head of workspace design at JLL MENA, Yullianna Porter; and president at Juan Pedro Moreeno, WPP Madrid; and designer and co-founder of The Care Lab Barcelona, Lekshmy Parameswaran.
The experts offer on-demand knowledge sessions for students who are interested in a particular field, using the expert's experience and projects as examples.
As part of working with the committee, IE University says that its students can also "go beyond the topics addressed in their mandatory course modules" and examine additional sectors of interest to them.
This enables them to align their individual interests with the subject-specific knowledge of relevant consultants and ensures sessions can be tailored to student's individual needs and interests.
"Through the Strategic Committee of Consultants, students can go beyond the topics addressed in their mandatory course modules to explore additional sectors of interest to them," said principal interior design director for EMEA at AECOM and director of the diploma in Strategic Interior Design, Elvira Muñoz.
"As students access this service through a coordinated registration process, they are able to align their individual interests with the subject-specific knowledge of the relevant consultant. In this way, a session can be tailored to a student's unique needs and interests."
The diploma includes a mixture of online sessions and in-person teaching at the university's Madrid-based campus with a "hands-on approach".
The diploma aims to enhance student's skills so that they can transform the spaces around them and "ultimately improve society, cities, organisations and businesses".
IE School of Architecture and Design says that by working with the committee, students are taught holistic and lateral thinking, and draw on the expertise of the consultants to build their knowledge of various architectural and design sectors.
According to the university, this is important as following the upheaval of the Covid-19 pandemic, it believes there is an increasing need for human-centric design, which is seen in the growth of hybrid spaces.
"Every type of space needs to change," said Diploma in Strategic Interior Design program director, Elvira Muñoz. "Students in this program will learn to approach design from the inside out in order to create meaningful projects that are innovative, meeting the needs of today's users and ready to adapt to the needs of tomorrow."
