Dezeen Showroom: British lighting company Curiousa has created a blown glass chandelier that takes cues from the naturally weathered quality of sea glass.

The Wave Chandelier was designed by Curiousa's founder Esther Patterson, who aimed to evoke a feeling of "effortless interplay and suspension" through the statement piece, which comprises long tubular glowing lights encased in undulating glass vessels.

The chandelier consists of a combination of the brand's horizontal Ripple Beams and vertical Crest and Cascade pendants suspended from a ceiling plate. There are five glass elements in total that make up these three composite lights.

"Each glass element is blown completely free-style and carefully shaped by hand and eye, without the use of moulds, then part sand-blasted to create contrasts of texture and filmy surfaces," explained the brand.

Wave is handmade in Derbyshire, UK and comes in a range of 22 glass colours with turned brass and walnut wood details.

They can be made in bespoke variations with each lighting element able to be replaced and refurbished in-house with the aim of maintaining them for a lifetime of use.
