Erwan Bouroullec, Kamna Malik and Thom Mayne named Dezeen Awards 2023 judges
Architects Thom Mayne and Carla Swickerath, designer Erwan Bouroullec, entrepreneur Siân Sutherland and curators Kamna Malik, Nacho Polo and Robert Onuska are among the Dezeen Awards 2023 judges.
Dezeen Awards 2023 launched on 15 February in partnership with Bentley Motors. There is just over a week to enter before our early entry deadline on 29 March to save 20 per cent on entry fees.
Now in its sixth year, the programme has become the ultimate accolade for architects and designers everywhere, with winners selected by a prestigious panel of international judges.

Mayne is the founder of Morphosis Architects, an interdisciplinary practice involved in experimental design, architecture and research.
In 1972, Pritzker Architecture Prize-winner Mayne co-founded the Southern California Institute of Architecture in Los Angeles.
He has also held teaching positions at Columbia University, Yale University, the Harvard Graduate School of Design, the Bartlett School of Architecture in London and the University of Pennsylvania.
Mayne's practice Morphosis is believed to be designing a 170-kilometre-long mirrored megacity in Saudi Arabia called The Line.
The architecture studio was one of 12 architecture studios named in The Line Exhibition, which is currently on display in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Mayne recently explained his desire to work on complex, city-scale projects in a talk hosted by the American Institute of Architecture in New York City.
Malik is a Mumbai-based independent design curator and strategist.
Malik is the former editor of Elle India and the former curator of India Design ID, the county's largest design initiative. She has also contributed to magazines including Elle Decor, Trends, Time Out and Downtown Design, among others.
Malik has been behind large-scale initiatives like the Kohler Bold Design Awards, Elle Graduates, Elle Beauty Awards and Trends Excellence Awards.
Paris-based designer Bouroullec is the co-founder of eponymous design studio Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.
Recent projects include an installation of pastel-coloured ceramic sculptures displayed during Milan design week 2022 and a perforated outdoor collection for furniture brand Hay.
The duo's designs have been featured in museums such as the MoMA in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, also in Paris.
StudioTwentySeven is a furniture and design gallery led by founder and creative director Nacho Polo and director Robert Onsuka.
The gallery's outposts in Miami and New York display contemporary design, including furniture and lighting among other pieces.
Recent projects include Martin Massé's chunky Orsetto 02 coffee table for the New York gallery and a furniture collection carved from beige-coloured Pietra di Medici limestone by French designers Francesco Balzano and Valeriane Lazard that was on show in the Miami gallery.
Swickerath is a partner at New York-based practice Studio Libeskind.
Since joining the architecture practice in 1999 Swickerath has worked on cultural, civic, retail, commercial, residential and planning projects worldwide.
Studio Libeskind recently announced plans to introduce cultural facilities and a rooftop viewpoint to the iconic art deco Boerentoren tower in Antwerp, Belgium.
Past projects by the studio include a Holocaust memorial featuring brick walls and angular mirrors in Amsterdam and the geometric Jewish Museum with tilted walls in Lisbon.
Sutherland is an entrepreneur and the co-founder and key spokesperson of A Plastic Planet, an organisation that works collaboratively with various stakeholders to reduce global plastic waste.
In early 2023 A Plastic Planet launched PlasticFree, a database of over 100 plastic alternatives for designers and architects. This subscription-based service provides users with in-depth reports on plastic alternatives, offering key insights into their properties, production and sourcing.
In February, Dezeen teamed up with PlasticFree to present its interdisciplinary forum of talks focussing on the climate crisis at Parsons School of Design in New York City – the talks were hosted by Sutherland.
