Koichi Takada, Rafael de Cárdenas and Jing Liu named Dezeen Awards 2023 judges
Architects Koichi Takada and Jing Liu, creative director Rafael de Cárdenas, Architecture Hunter founder Amanda Ferber and interior architect Tola Ojuolape have been announced as Dezeen Awards 2023 judges.
Dezeen Awards 2023 launched on 15 February in partnership with Bentley Motors. There is just one day left to enter before our early entry deadline tomorrow, Wednesday 29 March!
Now in its sixth year, the programme has become the ultimate accolade for architects and designers everywhere, with winners selected by a prestigious panel of international judges.

Takada is the founder and principal of the eponymous Australian architecture practice Koichi Takada Architects.
Sydney-based office Koichi Takada Architects was founded in 2008 and now has a Brisbane studio too. Recent projects by the practice include the interior of Jiwan, a restaurant in the Jean Nouvel-designed National Museum of Qatar and a mixed-use apartment block featuring retractable slatted wooden screens and thin balconies in Australia.
The architecture studio tries to incorporate lower carbon emission building materials and methods into projects such as its upcoming 30-storey apartment building covered in thousands of trees and plants in Brisbane, which is due to be completed in 2024.
Chinese architect Liu is the principal and co-founder of New York interdisciplinary practice Solid Objectives – Idenburg Liu (SO-IL).
Liu co-founded SO-IL in 2008 with Dutch architect Florian Idenburg. The duo's projects range from artistic collaborations with contemporary choreographers and visual artists to master plans and significant public realm design in cities including Melbourne and Indianapolis.
Recent projects by New York office SO-IL include the renovation and extension of an 18th-century glass factory in France in collaboration with Parisian studio FREAKS, a low-rise affordable housing development in Mexico and a flower-shaped prefabricated house clad in corrugated metal in Los Angeles.
De Cárdenas is a New York-based architect, designer and founder of eponymous practice Rafael de Cárdenas.
The interdisciplinary practice was founded in 2006 and works globally, specialising in residential and commercial interiors as well as architecture, furniture design and creative direction.
Recent projects by creative director de Cárdenas include a sci-fi-influenced red and chrome shop interior for French shoe brand Nodaleto in Miami, a split-level bar in department store Nordstrom's flagship in Midtown Manhattan and the show layout for Object & Thing, an art fair launched in 2019 by a former Frieze Art Fair artistic director.
Ferber is the founder, CEO and editor-in-chief of the architecture and design digital content platform, Architecture Hunter.
São Paolo native Ferber launched Architecture Hunter on Instagram in 2013 before creating its YouTube channel in 2021, publishing original short films produced by the platform as well as curation of videos by a range of global filmmakers.
Ferber is an ambassador for Morpholio, a creative tool application, Arkos Brasil and LG Magenta. She was selected for the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in Brazil and was named the top influencer in architecture by Feedspot in 2020. In 2021, she was featured in Architizer's 100 Women to Watch in Architecture.
Interior architect and designer Ojuolape is the founder of London-based multidisciplinary practice Tola Ojuolape Studio.
The office offers creative direction, brand strategy, interior design and styling to a range of clients. Ojuolape Studio recently designed the interior of The Africa Centre in Southwark, London in collaboration with architects Freehaus.
Ojuolape previously worked at design agency Blacksheep where she led global hospitality projects. Some of her clients included the Ritz Carlton, Hyundai Card and Marriott Hotel Group.
