Dezeen Showroom: design duo and brothers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec have created a sleek wooden dining table for Japanese furniture brand Koyori that "rethinks modelled plywood furniture".
Called Usurai, the minimalist table is available with either a rectilinear or rounded 35-millimetre-thick tabletop.
The table has a white beech veneer core with an oak surface and was crafted using a cross-cut lamination technique, which reveals layers of two woods in a striped wood-grain pattern.
Four pared-back legs support the tabletop without the need for any additional parts below, such as a screening panel or cross pieces.
"This beautiful table rethinks modelled plywood furniture," said Koyori. "The very simplicity of the Usurai table, to our surprise, has opened up new avenues for Koyori."
The Usurai table is available in a round tabletop version measuring 1200 millimetres, or with a rectangular tabletop that comes in a range of sizes.
