Luna dining chair by Corner 43 Decor
Dezeen Showroom: Thailand-based furniture manufacturer Corner 43 Decor has designed an aluminium-framed dining chair with a seat and back made from taut rope.
Luna has a tubular aluminium frame strung with poly-rope. The lengths of the material are hand-woven to form a seat and strung between the frame to create a stringent backrest.
The brand did away with excess materials when designing the chair and opted to create both shortened armrests and a seat and back that can be partially seen through instead of completely solid.
"The design concept of this chair starts with the intention of reducing the amount of unnecessary materials," explained Corner 43 Decor. "The backrest and seat are made of hand-woven rope, which is applied in the same way as the traditional weaving of rattan – a traditional Thai craft technique."
Luna is available in a range of frame and rope colours that can be combined to create bespoke colour pairings – finishes for the frame include a peacock blue colour, a khaki green shade and black, with the rope available in beige, grey and brown among others.
The collection also includes another version of the chair without arms.
