Smart Conference chair by Humanscale
Dezeen Showroom: workplace furniture brand Humanscale has launched the Smart Conference chair – an adaptation of a classic office seating design by the late industrial designer Niels Diffrient.
The Smart Conference chair is the newest addition to Humanscale's seating collection, updating Diffrient's Smart chair with chrome-free leather upholstery.
Using Diffrient's Form-Sensing Technology and weight-compensating reclining, the chair adjusts to the individual sitter to maximise comfort and posture support.
"It adjusts instantly to the user's body, providing a perfectly tailored sitting experience for all," said Humanscale. "No matter their shape or size, each sitter enjoys the same comfort, support, and movement in a chair that feels made just for them."
Diffrient's designs are known for prioritising function, with an emphasis on ergonomics. The sculpted backrest and seat cushions of the chair mimic the contours of the body and minimise pressure points.
It is available in eight neutral colour options, upholstered in durable Maribo leather that has been tanned without the use of toxic chromium.
To further reduce the product's carbon footprint, recycled die-cast aluminium makes up the frame.
An optional return-to-height function is also available, which brings each chair back to its highest position when unoccupied for a uniform appearance in the office or meeting room.
