Dezeen Showroom: office furniture brand Actiu has launched Qyos, its first acoustic meeting pod, designed to create "islands of privacy".
Created by Actiu's research and development team, Qyos is a collection of modular, sound-insulated cabins for calls or work requiring intense focus.
It is available in three sizes, ranging from a two-person pod to a six-person meeting space.
"The booth can be a counterpoint solution to the overuse of meeting rooms and a strategic tool to organize space and encourage the optimal movement of people," said Actiu. "Like the Greek island of Chios, Actiu's booth is presented as a place of calm and refuge for a few minutes of the intensive and collaborative day-to-day."
Qyos is designed to be easy to assemble and dismantle, with the cladding able to be clipped on or off without the use of tools.
Its door can be oriented on either side to allow the cabin to adapt to the space around it, while the size of the pods is intended to be optimised for easy transportation.
Recycled PET plastic is used for the insulating materials alongside acoustic glass, and the structure is composed of steel and extruded aluminium.
Different textured epoxy, textile and melamine finishes are available in several combinations.
To maximise user comfort, Qyos uses low-consumption LED lighting and an air renewal system, as well as optional accessories including high or low tables, soft seating and stools and screen hangings.
