Desso and Patricia Urquiola carpet tile collection by Tarkett
Dezeen Showroom: Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola collaborated with Tarkett-owned carpet brand Desso to create a carpet tile collection with "the lowest possible environmental impact".
The Desso and Patricia Urquiola carpet tile collection is designed to have a soft texture that resembles knitwear. It comes in 12 colours and aims to fit seamlessly into a variety of workplace and hospitality settings.
The collection has a graphical appearance and "carries all the hallmarks of Urquiola's distinctive design approach".
According to Tarkett, the collection avoids the organic lines prevalent in current interior design and instead is informed by the grid-like structure seen in woven textiles such as tweed and bouclé.
"For this collection, we looked to knitwear and woollens for inspiration," said Urquiola. "Using a striking 3D effect, we were able to create a surface that gives a sense of softness and volume."
The carpet tiles are 100 per cent recyclable in a closed-loop recycling system, according to Tarkett. The brand says the collection has a low circular carbon footprint of 1.03 kilograms of CO2 per square metre when recycled.
Colourways include neutrals and toned-down shades to suit a range of interior schemes.
