Dezeen Showroom: designed in-house by British brand Morgan, Valencia seating is intended as a lighter and more visually interesting alternative to typical modular sofas.

A classic of Morgan's catalogue, the Valencia modular sofa comprises individual seating units that are designed to be laid out together, each of which has the option of a full, three-quarter or half backrest.

The backrests taper at each end to take weight out of the volumes and give the sofa a flowing profile that recalls rolling hills in a landscape.

"The combined backrest outlines create a rhythmic sequence of rise and fall, with sofas coming together to form distinctive 'V'-shaped silhouettes," said Morgan.

Tapered timber legs add to the overall effect, echoing the gentle angles at the top of the sofa and giving the seating a look of lightness.

The Valencia collection won the Design Guild Mark, an award recognising excellence in British design, in 2017, and has been expanded to include a daybed as well as side and coffee tables.
