Deep Connections fabric by HBF
Dezeen Showroom: the colours and textures of nature are thoughtfully deconstructed and evoked in the Deep Connections fabric collection, created by HBF Textiles.
The Deep Connections fabric range features patterns such as the velvet-textured Agate Stripe – which is composed of multicoloured stripes of various thicknesses based on hues found in agate stones – and Moody Moss, which has a pin-curled surface reminiscent of a dense carpet of moss in a forest.
The patterns were designed by HBF Textiles vice-president of design and creative direction Mary Jo Miller, who set out to create a different interpretation of the natural and organic than what's usually seen.
"Creating surface texture is part of our DNA and coupling that with patterning, which is at times organic or structured, gives us additional dimensional character," said Miller.
"We love playing light and shade against one another through colour pops and dark moody hues, with waves of depth occurring simultaneously," she continued.
The third fabric style in the collection, Tessellations, features a tight pattern that on closer inspection reveals a kaleidoscope of different shapes and colours.
All of the styles are available in a range of different colours and are free of chemicals on the Living Building Challenge Red List.
