Australia has become the first country in the world to ban engineered stone, following an increase in silicosis cases among workers who handle the material.
The ban targets engineered stone, which is also known as agglomerate stone – a type of material made by mixing crushed stone with a resin binder – and will come into effect from 1 July 2024.
This week's newsletter also featured David Lake and Ted Flato's win of the 2024 AIA Gold Medal, Snøhetta's design for an opera house in Saudi Arabia and an exclusive interview with LVMH US head Anish Melwani on sustainability.
