Judges joined architects and designers from all over China in a ceremony to celebrate the winners of the inaugural edition of Dezeen Awards China in Shanghai last week.
The event at Neri&Hu-designed The Sukhothai Shanghai hotel welcomed guests from over 100 studios and companies to celebrate the 26 winners.
The three overall project winners, which recognise the best building, interior and design of the year, were chosen from the project winners and were revealed at the party by Dezeen's co-CEO Benedict Hobson and China editor Christina Yao.
The six nomination-only China Designers of the Year, which reward the best emerging and established talent in the country across architecture, interiors and design, were also announced at the ceremony.
Guests included Yu Ting, Frank Chou, Alex Mok, Vincent de Graaf and Filippo Gabbiani.
Studios AIM Architecture, FOG Architecture, MUDA-Architects, OPEN Architecture and RSHP were among the winners that collected their Dezeen Awards paper marble trophies – originally designed by Atelier NL but refashioned out of Paper Factor material in collaboration with Bentley.
The winning studios also received a certificate made from Bentley Lighthouse Award shortlisted studio Notpla's seaweed paper, a collaboration with specialist paper company GF Smith.
The project of the year and Designers of the Year winners also received a bottle of The Dalmore King Alexander III, a one-of-a-kind single malt whiskey by Scottish distiller The Dalmore.
Architecture project of the year, sponsored by The Dalmore and V&A Dundee, was won by Beijing-based studio Trace Architecture Office.
Multi-disciplinary design studio FOG Architecture took home the interiors project of the year award, sponsored by Gaggenau.
Guests at The Sukhothai hotel in Shanghai enjoyed drinks provided by this year's Dezeen Awards China drinks sponsors The Dalmore and Perrier-Jouët.
Seating was provided by furniture brand Herman Miller, which also sponsored the workplace design category.
All Dezeen Awards China 2023 winners were published on Dezeen and Dezeen's Wechat account last Tuesday evening. Each winner also received a dedicated page on Dezeen Awards China website.
We look forward to celebrating with you again next year! In the meantime, please subscribe to our newsletter to stay updated with the latest Dezeen Awards China news.
